چکیده

We propose an approach that predicts whether a tweet, which is accompanied by multimedia content (image/video), is trustworthy or deceptive. We test different combinations of quality and trust-oriented features (tweet-based, userbased and forensics) in tandem with a standard classification and an agreement-retraining technique, with the goal of predicting the most likely label (fake or real) for each tweet. The experiments carried out on the Verifying Multimedia Use dataset show that the best performance is achieved when using all available features in combination with the agreement-retraining method.

CERTH at MediaEval 2015 Synchronization of Multi-User Event Media Task

This paper describes the results of our participation to the Synchronization of Multi-User Event Media Task at the MediaEval 2015 challenge. Using multiple similarity measures, we identify pairs of similar media from different galleries. We use a graph-based approach to temporally synchronize user galleries; subsequently we use time information, geolocation information and visual concept detect...

Harvesting Intelligence in Multimedia Social Tagging Systems

As more people adopt tagging practices, social tagging systems tend to form rich knowledge repositories that enable the extraction of patterns reflecting the way content semantics is perceived by the web users. This is of particular importance, especially in the case of multimedia content, since the availability of such content in the web is very high and its efficient retrieval using textual a...

This paper provides an overview of the tasks submitted to TRECVID 2011 by ITI-CERTH. ITICERTH participated in the Known-item search (KIS) as well as in the Semantic Indexing (SIN) and the Event Detection in Internet Multimedia (MED) tasks. In the SIN task, techniques are developed, which combine motion information with existing well-performing descriptors such as SURF, Random Forests and Bag-of...

CERTH/CEA LIST at MediaEval Placing Task 2015

We describe the participation of the CERTH/CEA LIST team in the Placing Task of MediaEval 2015. We submitted five runs in total to the Locale-based placing sub-task, providing the estimated locations for the test set released by the organisers. Out of five runs, two are based solely on textual information, using feature selection and weighting methods over an existing language model-based appro...

The VMU Participation @ Verifying Multimedia Use 2016

The participating approach predicts whether a tweet, which is accompanied by multimedia content (image/video), is trustworthy (real) or deceptive (fake). We combine two different methods a) one using a semi-supervised learning scheme that leverages the decisions of two independent classifiers to produce a decision and b) one using textual patterns to extract claims about whether a post is fake ...
